We recently took our first step toward realizing our mission statement with an introductory session at Ramgondanahalli Government School. The energy and enthusiasm that filled the room were simply infectious.

Meeting the Students

The day began with our team of mentors and educators meeting the young students at Ramgondanahalli. Wide-eyed and eager, they were introduced to what robotics is and how it can open doors to a world of innovation and creativity. The word "robotics" was still relatively new to most of them, but their curiosity was palpable.

Ice Breaker Activities

To set a comfortable and engaging atmosphere, we organized ice breaker activities related to the students' daily struggles and dreams. This allowed us to connect with the students on a personal level and understand their unique challenges and aspirations. We found that many of them faced various difficulties in their daily lives, but their dreams and hopes shone brightly.

The Pre-Program Survey

Before delving into robotics, we wanted to gauge the students' initial knowledge and interests. To do this, we had them fill out a pre-program survey. Here's a glimpse of the questions they answered:

Section 2: Robotics Knowledge

  • Have you ever learned about robots before?

  • Have you ever played with robots or built something related to technology?

Section 3: Curiosity and Interests

  • What do you find most interesting about robots?

  • Is there something specific you want to learn more about robots?

Section 4: How You Feel About STEM

  • How much do you like STEM subjects?

  • Can you explain why STEM subjects are important?

Section 5: Challenges and Dreams

  • What do you think could be tricky or difficult about learning about robots?

  • How do you feel about building and programming robots?

Section 6: What You Have at Home

  • Do you have any technology or robots at home or somewhere else?

  • If you answered "Yes" to the previous question, tell us what you have.

Section 7: How You Like to Learn

  • How do you like to learn new things?

  • Is there a way you learn best?

Section 8: Your Future Dreams

  • Have you ever thought about having a job that involves STEM?

  • If you answered "Yes" to the previous question, what kind of job do you think you might like?

  • If you haven't thought about a job like that, would you like to learn more about STEM through our robotics program?

Section 9: Challenges in Learning

  • Are there any difficult things you face in school or with learning?

  • What are your dreams or goals for the future?

  • How do you think learning about robots and STEM can help you with your dreams and goals?

This survey provided us with invaluable insights into the students' starting point, their interests, and the potential challenges they might face. It will guide us in tailoring our program to their needs and aspirations.

A Bright Future Awaits

As the introductory session concluded, a sense of excitement filled the air. We saw a group of young minds ready to embark on a journey of innovation and discovery. Project Yantrikta is not just about teaching robotics; it's about empowering these young individuals to overcome challenges, pursue STEM, and achieve their dreams.

With every filled-out survey, with every smile and spark of curiosity, we moved one step closer to our goal of creating a brighter future for these students. We're committed to nurturing their passion for STEM and equipping them with the skills they need to thrive in a rapidly advancing world.

The journey has just begun, and we can't wait to see what amazing things these students will accomplish in the world of robotics and beyond. Together, we will inspire innovation, bridge gaps, and empower the next generation of problem solvers. Stay tuned for more updates from Project Yantrikta!
